Melbourne is looking forward to hosting the Rotary International Convention in 2023. A most liveable city with much to offer - we wish to demonstrate a warm and friendly welcome to all Rotarians attending from around the globe.
A vital part of this is to have an engaged and energised volunteer team to assist all visitors during the Convention. We wish to include volunteers from all ages and backgrounds and create a diverse team. Volunteers may be Rotarians or Non Rotarians - we encourage family and friends and all like minded people - to be part of this wonderful opportunity to showcase Rotary and Melbourne.
Calls for volunteers are open now (register here). The registration process shall require you to provide some general information - including name , contact details and details of any special skill set you may be able to offer as a volunteer. For example , we shall require volunteers who speak a language other than English to act as interpreters and a first aid or medical qualification shall assist if an emergency arises.
The second part of the registration process will ask you to look at various jobs and shifts for which you can volunteer. You shall be able to fill in your desired shift from the dates and times that are available. Most of the shifts shall be for a period of four hours. You shall be able to volunteer for multiple shifts over multiple days - or a single shift on a single day - every contribution assists with the running of the Convention. This process shall be available later this year and the jobs and shifts available shall continue to increase as the program is developed. Registered Volunteers shall be emailed when job and shift selection is available.
The types of jobs shall include the following :

Volunteers shall be required to complete online training through our dedicated Volunteer Learning Centre due to be available early in 2023. This shall provide key information for volunteers to assist delegates during the Convention. We shall also provide job descriptions in the jobs and shifts selection to assist with the various roles required.
Volunteers who work inside the two Convention venues ( Rod Laver Arena and the Melbourne Convention and Entertainment Centre ) shall be required to be a registered convention delegate. Volunteers shall also need to have a valid Working with Children check and be Fully vaccinated against Covid 19.
